I cant wait til tomorrow (Sat the 4th of July 09)

because im getting a new Nikon D700 DSLR!!!
well excited
except...

this now means i have owe my parents yet another thousand pounds that they aint gonna get back for the next 20 years
and my nan gave me her inheritance early.

but i need it really cos im doing a wedding in a few weeks, and my D80 dont have a flash sync port so when im in the studio at uni i have to hire out a D300

i could really do with a decent Macro lens, i really wanna do some macro work
but i cant see getting a new lens anytime in the foreseeable future

So here are some macro shots just to keep the dream alive

Go alternative! Most of the affordable macro lenses are just optimized for a smaller distance and won't even go to 1:2. So you'll need extra tools like macro rings anyways (eBay 8$). But to get stunning magnifications I just use my 18-55 kitlens in retro-position (that's how I captured the snowflake).
You could also get a cheap 50mm prime lens and use it as a filter reversed on a 50mm kitlens to get 1:1 very cheap.
